You can set up the Update Controller to use ftp to download updates from non-anonymous ftp servers.

The UpdateLocation property of the AppLife update controller takes a uri string. The uri syntax to define the ftp logon credentials within the uri is:

ftp://username:password@host.domain:port/

ex:

ftp://myuser:thepassword@ftp.kineticjump.com:21/

Placing a uri with credentials into the UpdateLocation property allows you to download updates via ftp.
