Hi:

  1. Can I use your API to mimic a web service?
  2. Perform database update to host machine?
  3. Pull different file types?
  4. Push from host to server?

That a lot of questions...

Thanks,

Yama

Hello Yama,

I dont know what you mean by "mimic a web service".  The AppLife Update solution does not utilize any server side processing for updating purposes.  The AppLife Update controller will simply request to download an xml file and then process it on the client side.  Based on the updates available for the current client version, the controller will then request to download an update package. You are certainly free to call any other web services you like around the update processes of checking for an update, downloading an update, or applying an update.

You can perform client side database actions.  AppLife Update ships with transacted update actions that you can use to update any database that can be accessed by a .Net data provider.

Within your update package you can include any file types you need to place on your clients.

When you say push from host to server, are you referring to uploading files or information from client to server?  AppLife Update has no facilities for pushing information from host to server.

Any plans to include an uploading (pushing) facility?
