I downloaded the AppLife Update trial and I want to use the french localization for all of the update controls. As of now, I haven't been able to make it work with the quick starts examples.

I tried to check the "french" checkbox in the Localization tab, in the project settings with no result. I extracted the update content, and there's an "fr"  folder with a resources dll.  But nothing to show for it in the application after an update.

What am I missing here ?

Thank you!

Hello Sebastien,

French resources for the updating visual controls introduced in version 4.0 are not available in the download.  However, a customer has recently submitted french translations for these controls.  Though these resources have not yet been verified by the customer, I am attaching the satellite assemblies to this post.  To use them, add the "fr" folder and its contents to your application directory next to the Kjs.AppLife.Update.Controller.dll assembly.

The update engine dialog (the window you see as an update is executing) is localized in French.  Checking the french checkbox in the localization tab includes the french resources for this dialog with the update package and should result in a localized update engine dialog as the update executes.

File Attachment(s):
fr.zip (16kb) downloaded 6 time(s).

Hi Brian

Thanks for the files.

I've paste the "fr" folder in the bin folder of my application beside the Kjs.AppLife.Update.Controller.dll assembly. I've paste it to the installation folder too.. (..\AppLife Update\PublicAssemblies\)

I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can't get it to work in french. I've tried to change my regional settings from French-Canada to French-France. No result. I've tried to force the current culture of the application to french, still no result.

Is it possible that because my version of Windows is in english I can't use the french localization?

Thanks again!
Sebastien

Use of the localized resources depends on the setting of the Thread.CurrentUICulture value.  By defualt, the value is set by your localized settings, but you can explicitly set it manually on your application thread as well.

Thank you for your time Brian, that worked.

There's only one thing, the text is too long for some controls. Like the button on the lower right corner of the UpdateDetailsDisplay. The buttons seems to extend itself to fit the text, but some part of that button disappear outside the control.

Sebastien.
