Christian,

We completly agree with you that globalization is important. Globalization has been planned for in AppLife Update. In AppLife Update version 1.1 which is targeted for release by Sept 15th, the Update Controller and Update Engine will be localized for French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese. These are the components of AppLife Update that are viewed from the integrators (your) application, such as the Check For Updates Form, Download Updates Form, and the Update Engine User Interface.

The purpose for setting the Icon and Window text of the Update Engine UI is to allow you to personalize it for your application. In version 1.1, you will be able to set the Window Text for each of the supported languages.

Localizing the rest of the application and the help system will happen some time in the future as well, though no date is specifically targeted at this point.

AppLife Update version 1.1 is released. This version has localized resources for the controller forms as well as the update engine user interface. The cultures included are German, Italian, Spanish, French, Japanese, and Chinese. Users who need other cultures can perform the string translations and receive localized satellite assemblies. More info here.
