Hi

I am trying to use your Update Service to allow normal users to update my application. I think I have it all set up right, but I continue to get permissions errors when trying to update. I set up the msm just like the help says, but it still wont update. After my install runs, I can see the AppLife Update Service running but still no go.

Any ideas?

Hi Jane,

If you look in your systems application event log, you should find an event with a source of AppLifeUpdateService and a message that reads:

Elevated update process initiated

If you dont have any of these events then that means that your application is not using the service to apply the update. A common cause for this is not setting the AllowElevatedPrivileges property on the Update Controller within your app. This property is false by default. To use the update service, this property must be true and your application must be registered with the service. The properties you set on the merge module took care of the registration part.

If that is not the case, then we can look at your update log and see what's going on.
